Book Club Pick · On Our Nightstands

On Our Nightstands #18

While it might not technically be summer yet, June is close enough for us to be in full Summer Reading mode! Once again this week, several members of Book Club Sunday are reading this month’s official unofficial pick (The Dry), and some of us are diving into this month’s official pick, The Wife, the Maid, and the Mistress. We’re going to be in for a fun meeting this month and can’t wait to talk about these reads in a couple of weeks! Here’s what some of us have been reading lately. Happy Reading!

I’m jumping on the book club bandwagon this week and reading The Dry. I feel like we’re going to need a separate book club meeting just to discuss this one since we’re all reading it! I’m intrigued so far and can’t wait to find out what happens!
I’m also listening to The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown. It’s narrated by Edward Herrmann (aka Richard Gilmore, RIP), who is a terrific narrator. I’m a few chapters in and so far am really enjoying it. I didn’t know I cared about rowing but apparently I do!

I’m reading our newest Book Club selection, The Wife, the Maid, and the Mistress by Ariel Lawhon. Two thumbs up so far! I’d also like to give a shoutout to the author/editors/publishers of this book for their decision to use the Oxford comma in the title. It may have bothered me too much to even consider reading it if they hadn’t.

I am reading Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters (delightful), The Dry by Jane Harper (book club’s official unofficial book club pick this month), and a lot of illustrated children’s books with the babe.

Still reading In the Woods by Tana French. I’m noticing little things on this second read that make me feel like I’m a detective and I’m going to solve Det. Ryan’s mystery myself!

Wishing every day were Book Club Sunday!
